I'm feeling it! Finally! Yesterday I put on a top that usually just fits. It's not so uncomfortable that I only focus on how the shirt makes me feel. You know what I mean right? When you have a shirt (or pants) that you're itching to get out of because the arms aren't quite right, or it sticks to you in all the wrong places, or rides up to show off your belly or butt...well, I put that shirt on yesterday and the arms weren't so bad and it felt a little loose in the midsection. The waist was still the same but I was pleasantly surprised with how well it was fitting. But then I thought it was just in my head. I'm happy to report it wasn't! I have on another top today that is loose!!! It's a top that I've never been uncomfortable in but can see and feel how loose it is in the middle. YEAH!!!! A Non-scale victory for me.
Another finally to report: I have skin issues...not to bore you with all the details and to make a long story short, I was told it looks like psoriasis by one doctor, then another said "no, more like eczema then I saw another doctor who said it was probably psoriasis but she wanted to look at it again in the fall (that was in the spring). Anyway, I saw her yesterday and she confirmed that I most certainly have psoriasis. Yeah me! She also told me to go back to the rheumetologist because I have (some) joint pain that was unexplained before and now we're thinking maybe psoriatic arthritis. I'm happy that I finally have a definitive answer as to what's going on, I just hate that there is little I can do about it other than steroid creams. It could be worse.
My thought of the day is: persistance pays off. I didn't give up with the gym when the scale went in the wrong direction...I'm seeing the payoff. And I didn't give up with the doctors. I had to go through a number of them before finding out what's what, but I finally got an answer. Sounds familiar with my MGUS stories.
Never give up!
ETA: I have a job interview tomorrow! It's for a "little" part time job. Two days a week. Will be enough (maybe) to cover Hub's gas to get him to work for the week.

Week 14 Weigh In
I have no idea what to say.
I accidentally touched the scale while it was "waking up" - stupid digital scales. I realized it when I "lost" 24 pounds. Wouldn't that be a dream. So I hopped off and tried again. Now I was up 3 pounds. Hrm...that doesn't seem right. Need to let it rest.
15 minutes later I check again.
Looks like I'm down .6
Total 31.1
A small victory that I'll gladly take. Next week it's on though! :D
Non-Scale Victory time!
I did an at home workout last night. One that was devised by my trainer. Not only did I burn some major calories but I also noticed some big changes on the treadmill. I haven't been on my treadmill in quite sometime. Mainly because it's a little rough on the plantar fasciitis.
Anyway, I started the treadmill at a nice 2.0 mph. Just to warm up. I soon realized my heart rate wasn't going up much at all.
2.5...that was a little better, but still not where I should be.
3.0 - yup! That hit the spot. My heart rate went up, but not too much. Was at a perfect spot for some great calorie burn. And did I giggle and shout a "yes!" in my head (didn't want to scare the children). I've used the treadmill on and off over the last few years. The last time I used it with some sort of consistency, the fastest I could walk on it was about 2.5, sometimes 2.7. When I would hit the 3.0 mark I would huff and puff and be in all sorts of pain. Not today! I lasted 5 minutes. I would have continued at that pace but I needed to get on with my other intervals.
And one more to add to the pot. I did a plank last week while at the gym. Never thought that would happen. Anyway, my time last week was 15 seconds. Last night? 20 seconds. I probably could have held a few seconds longer but my elbows were killing me from the mat. (I know, excuses, excuses).
These are the moments I really need to remember for those days when I am feeling less than stellar about my progress.

Allergies and Asthma
Easter went fairly well. I got a quick workout in the morning before the feasting really began. Well, that's only a half-truth. The feast began at breakfast. I, however, behaved myself. While everyone else at the table was feasting on french toast, bacon, eggs and toast, I made myself some healthy scrambled eggs with a little cheese served on a sandwich thin. Not a bad start to the day.
I did behave myself at lunch as well. Did indulge in some of the cake (and a few jelly beans) I made. All-in-all though, the day was a success. Only went over calories by about 150. Not too shabby.
Today is a new day. And an allergy/asthma filled one. I woke up this morning with some major eye pain. Assuming it's from allergies. I've also noticed some wheezing. Fun-times are ahead for me! As much as I love the prospect of spring - I HATE the allergens that come along with it. I'm having a hard time with the breathing, thus my energy stores are low.
That being said, I did get my workout in early this morning. It was all about the lower body today. Even though I am having trouble with breathing, I am still amazed at how fast I recover between sets. A few short weeks ago it would take me about a minute to recover my heart rate. Today? Took 30 seconds or less. I couldn't believe it!
Not only that, but while I was on the bike, I needed to increase the level in order to get my heart rate into my 'target' zone. I felt like I was working hard, but my heart rate wasn't increasing. Pushing that little "up" button did the trick! Amazing!
Just 2 non-scale victories for today!
Speaking of the scale. I spoke with my trainer about my measurements on Saturday. He said I had an "increase" in some areas. He said that it's normal. He's trying to get me to build some muscle so when I enter "phase 2" and burn major fat, I'll have a great muscle base. I felt a bit better about things after our talk this morning. Not only that, I remembered I have my appointment with the nutritionist later next week. Her scale will be telling.
Tomorrow's challenge: get myself up and out of bed and into the gym for a 25 minute bike ride.
