Week 27 Weigh in

Stayed the same this week.
Success, if you ask me.
It's been a stressful week and I'm just glad it's almost over!

My big guy got some promising news for his migraines. We got some meds to try if/when he has another massive migraine. That eased my mind!   My little guy's surgery went well. He is a trooper!  He was playing like is normal self by the end of the day yesterday. Would never have known he had just had surgery just 8 hours prior.

As far as I go, I am starting to get really bored and not to mention frustrated with my workouts. I can't do upper body with this stupid arm injury. As far as cardio goes, I can only do the bike. Do you know how boring that gets? I'm going to speak with my physical therapist about other options. And please don't bring up swimming. The gym I go to has a pool but the place is nasty. No way on Earth that I am swimming in there!

Don't mean to sound like Debbie-Downer. Honestly, I don't. Things are going really well all-in-all. I'm just coming off of a stressful week.

Week 26 Weigh In

Down 4.1 pounds this week!!  Total = 44!

I've been pinching myself all morning!

I have to keep this short. Getting the eldest on the bus soon, then off to PT for my feet.

Next week my eldest has his appointment with the neurologist about that migraine and the continuing headaches he's been having. And my little guy is having surgery for his second set of ear tubes. So, please pardon my sporadic posting. Things should quiet down around here soon. (They best, anyway!)

Week 25 Weigh in

Stayed the same this week. So down 40 total.
Not a big surprise seeing I had one heck of a week!

So, I had to go clothes shopping again yesterday. I spoke about my last outing here. I needed to pick up some fall clothes. It's getting chilly around here. Off I go to find myself some new pants. I hit the shop and was pleased to find a plethora of choices for me!  Every pair of pants I liked came in my size!  I was beside myself with joy.

That is, until I got home. I was very excited to try on my new clothes. I bought two pairs of jeans. One was a little out of my "style" range. Meaning, they were a little "young" for me but I thought, "what the heck!". The other pair was closer to a regular old-fashioned pair of jeans. OK, so, what is it with clothing manufactures of plus-sized clothing?  They apparently don't have weight issues of their own and/or don't use "models" to try the clothing. My goodness!  I looked like a clown!  Even my husband got a chuckle. Of course he said I could probably fix them. He's probably right but I just don't want to add that to my to-do list. Needless to say, I am off shopping again today - right after I finish cleaning the house.

Speaking of the house. It's so nice to have everything back in some semblance of order. My house has been chaos with all the sickness and injuries and crap of this week. I am glad we are in the weekend. I do however, feel bad for my husband. He was supposed to head to NYC with my eldest for some "guy time" at the Maker Faire. With the injury to his foot, he just wasn't able to make the drive.  It's always a bummer to have plans squashed by injuries and illness. Such-as-life, I guess.

Have a great weekend!  I best get back to the cleaning and then SHOPPING!

Looking up

Things are looking up this morning. Well, mostly.

My son is feeling much better today. He still has a slight headache so I did keep him home from school. I'm debating calling the neurologist's office for a check-up too. Although, it's really had to determine if he has a virus or had a migraine. Such a fine line sometimes.

After resting and worrying all day yesterday, my legs are feeling a bit better today. I'm going to attempt a trip to the gym this afternoon. We'll see what happens after my workout. Seeing as I can only do lower body for strength training, I'll probably lighten the load a bit just to make sure everything goes well.

Now to my poor husband. He did something to his foot the other day while working on his car. Last night he was in agony and couldn't walk. Took him to the DR this morning and he wabbles out with a boot. He's thrilled.

Needless to say, I can't wait for this week to be over and done with!  It's been crazy. At least my eating is under control. No going off the deep end while going through a stressful moment in time.

A bit worried...

I'm a little worried tonight.

My son has a history of migraines. He seems to have one right now but we're not sure if it's really a migraine or a virus. He's had this headache for about 30 hours. I brought him to the DR today to be sure. Yup, migraine. Then he started with a fever. I call the DR. Said it's probably a virus but still could be a migraine. Now he's saying his neck hurts a little. Not sure if he over heard us talking about West Nile and Meningitis or not. I call the DR back. She said as long as he's comfy and can get some sleep to wait on the ER. He CAN move his head. He DOESN'T have a high fever and he's "with it". All "good" signs.

Anyway, keep my little guy in your thoughts if you would. I'm worried sick about him and who knows what kind of sleep I will be getting tonight.

And about me...
I did go to the DR today about my legs. She said I have Lateral Femoral Cutaneous Nerve Entrapment.
Basically I have some nerve issue due to either my weight or putting pressure on the nerve area from tight clothes (mine are all lose from losing weight) or possibly from the way I sit while on this computer. My husband is always yelling at me about my posture. I guess I should listen, eh?

Anyway, I haven't been able to really do any reading about this at all today as I've been worried about my son. The DR told me I can continue with the gym and if I get to a point where I can't stand the "pain" from this nerve thing, I can have a shot that will take it all away. I am guessing she meant a cortisone shot. Gotta love those things!

So anyway, here I am getting through the day the best that I can. I have a few calories left (haven't had dinner yet and it's 9:00PM) so I'm all good on that front. No gym today. Probably won't get to go tomorrow either if my son is still sick. It's always something. I'm OK with it just as long as he's on the mend.

Gone Fishing

Trying to get my head in the game this week.

I'm starting with kicking the habit (again!) know, the bad soda habit. I swear that stuff is out there to kill me! I find I eat more and make poor choices when that stuff is running through my veins. I've read all the research, I know all the bad things it can do to me. I can't help but drink it anyway. It's like a drug addiction. I'm serious. (Yes, I realize a drug addiction is much more serious than my soda) I come off the stuff and the second I even get a whiff of it, I am being dragged back down into the pit of despair.

So, here I am going cold turkey. No more soda! This cycle has got to stop!

I ran into the store with my little guy this morning. I passed the beverage case. There it was. Calling my name. I just gave it a dirty look and kept right on going. I swear it was mocking me. It's all good though. I won that battle.

Eating today was just OK. I noticed I'm still making some poor choices but I will reel it in and start making better and better choices with every day. I'm under some stress right now. Not that it's an excuse, because it isn''s just...well, if you've had an issue with food, you get what I'm saying. Anyway, my little guy has to have tubes put back in his ears. Got his surgery date this morning. Stressful thinking about the tiny man going under again, but I know it's for the best. I also have my feet and shoulder on my mind. Trying different ways to work around those issues in the gym. Finally, I have this new issue with my legs. It's something that happened a few weeks ago and started up again today....

When I did the 5K a few weeks back. I talk about how my legs were like rubber with the lactic acid build up. I didn't go into detail about how the really felt. I have to tell you now because it's the same sensation I am experiencing today. My thighs feel like they are being tickled. It's really the only way I can describe it. You know when you're being tickled and your laughing because it tickles but you really want to cry (or yell) to make it stop? Well, that's my legs. It came on last night after the gym. I did a bunch of stretches and was fine. Was OK this morning when I woke up but by mid-morning I've just wanted to cry. Still do. It "hurts" to sit. It "hurts" to walk. I just want them to be taken off and put somewhere else until they behave nicely. I want to cry.   Ohhhh...I just thought of a way to describe what I'm's like when you sit on your leg wrong and it's good asleep, then you try to walk. That's how it feels. I hate it.

Anyway, that's my stressors right now. I need a good night sleep and hopefully will feel a bit better in the morning. I'm seeing the Doc first thing. She best not tell me no gym!

FMM: All About Me

What a great FMM this week!  I've been thinking about adding some of my scrap pages to the blog as I finish them so great timing on this one!

If you’ve taken part in FMM then you know the rules. If you’re new, please take a moment to answer this week’s question on your own blog then add your link in the comments section here at: so we can all see your FMM questions and answers. Please invite your blog readers to add their links here too so everyone has to opportunity to be seen. The idea is to connect with other awesome bloggers so take a moment to post your own FMM post and comment on a couple of other posts. Now it’s time for this week’s topic!
FMM: All About Me
1. What are your talents?  I don't think of myself as talented. My hubs gets upset when I say that though so we'll pretend I didn't. That said, I enjoy scrapbooking and sewing although I haven't sewed a thing since I made my son's baptism outfit back in '04. YIKES!
2. What is your best habit? I always kiss my kids again just before I go to bed. MAN! I love those buggers.
3. If you had to be stuck with someone in an elevator for 8 hours, who would you want it to be? Hubs. He'd know how to keep me calm and he'd make me laugh.
4. Share one odd fact about you that we’d never know to ask. May have to come back to this one. I really can't think of anything.
5. What’s your latest project (work, home, whatever you care to share?) Scrap pages...
6. If you could change one thing about how you look, what would it be? I would change my arms. I hate how saggy and gross they are. Always have been.
7. What do you do in your spare time? Read, blog, scrapbook
8. What is your biggest pet peeve? The improper use of "then" and "than" drives me bonkers!

9. Why do you blog? Helps keep me on track.
10. Are you tidy or messy? mostly tidy with a side of messy. I'm working on being more tidy because that's the way I like it. Sometimes easier said than done with little ones.
11. What’s the last song that played on your iPod? No idea. I listen while working out but don't think I really pay any attention to what is playing.
12. Do you cook?  Only because I have to feed the kids. I hate cooking!!! Stresses me out.

13. Do you like sports?  If so, list your teams. New England Patriots!
14. How often do you read and/or watch the news? Everyday…I mostly skim headlines. I get too worked up about what's going on in the world so I read enough to know a bit about what's going on but not so much that I have a nervous breakdown thinking about all of it.
15. Did you stick to your new Year’s resolution this year?  What resolution? I don't believe in them.
16. What are you looking forward to most in the remainder of 2011? Celebrating 10 years of marital bliss with hubs! And losing a few more pounds.
17. Shoes, sunglasses or handbags?  Sunglasses and handbags. I would love shoes if my feet weren't such a mess!
18. How do you feel about sleeping on satin sheets?  Too slippery. Hate it.
19. Do you sing in the shower? nope. It's where I get all my thinking done.
20. Describe yourself in one word. crazy. :D

Now it's your turn. And don't forget to link back at too! Happy Monday!

Never Forget

What a beautiful day it was today.
Just as it was 10 years ago today.

I don't even know what to say. Maybe silence is best...

I will never forget.

Week 23 and 24 Weigh ins

Oh My!  Where the heck have I been?

Let's do business first.
Week 23 WI - lost vaca weight :D
Week 24 WI- down 1 more pound so total is now 40.9 (1.8 to go to hit my first big goal!).

Now, what have I been up to?  Why haven't I been here writing about my journey, which has been a tremendous help to me with keeping me on track?  Well, honestly? I've been lazy with the writing thing. Sure, I can sit on Facebook and browse the internet for hours, but to sit for a few minutes and write? Too daunting lately. Seems silly, I know. But here I am.

So. It's back-to-school time. The first week of school went swimmingly for my second grader. Oh, how the time flies!  I look forward to the start of the school year because I like having the structure to our day. I don't like seeing how fast my son is growing up though!  Time goes too quick!

That being said, I went to the gym on Tuesday after Labor Day and the place was rocking. I have never seen the parking lot so full. Not even on a Saturday morning has it been as full as it was on Tuesday night!  I was in awe. It's almost like New Year's if you think about it. The kids are starting a new year of school, the parents are thinking about getting into better shape for the holiday eating that is soon to follow.

Anyway, I have to take things a little slow in the gym these days. I'm starting to feel like an athlete with all these injuries I'm experiencing!  First an update on the plantar fasciitis. I did start physical therapy (just a side note - the therapist works with my first trainer! We did some dishing on him ;-)). It's going really well. I'm told to keep going to the gym but to keep it easy. No elliptical or treadmill. No jumping or running. The bike it is. I'm going to need PT for my butt after this. ;-)

One of the things I've been noticing for a number of weeks is that my arm feels like it's going to snap off when I bench press and do a few other exercises. She hasn't known what that was all about. While I was at PT, I was looking at a poster of the shoulder and asked about the pain I've been feeling. He told me it's probably my rotator cuff and that I need to STOP immediately and let it heal before doing further damage. Needless to say, I've been a bit bummed. I've done a few workouts using lighter weights and avoiding the exercises that make my arm hurt in the least. The problem is though that my arm has started hurting doing just around-the-house sort of stuff so now I have to stop with the upper body for a while. Not a happy camper. But, I am going to do what I am told so I won't further injure myself.

I'm a little annoyed that my trainer didn't know what was going on with my arm. When I told her what the therapist said, she asked me what exercises I could do. I thought to myself "shouldn't you know?". As helpful as she's been, I was a little taken aback by how little she knew about such a common injury.
Anyway, for now I'm going to be working on my own. I'm out of sessions and am not so sure I want to pay for more at this point with the injuries I have.  She's been nice enough to write up some workouts for me so I know what to do for now.
